environment.
User
acceptance test environment
is sometimes created
for use by end users so they can test that the application meets
expectations;
Production environment
contains all
production data. Changes to this environment should only occur after
all stakeholders have signed-off on all testing.
Production
support (DEV/Test) environment is used by the production
support team to fix and test any
production issues before moving them into production. It
is sometimes used to test new releases of operating system software or
”patches” before moving them into the production environment.
Operational readiness environment, or release test, is
used to test the operational readiness of new
application software before it moves into production. Information
management solutions
frequently use the user acceptance
test environment for operational readiness since the primary “user” is
the
operational support team.
